defa-spektrum started a distribution department in January 2007. It is working as a distributor for recent German documentary and fiction films with a focus on Eastern German topics and films related to the GDR.

Its main aim is to support creative filmmakers risking an authentic view on reality.

The films can be personal, distroying social facades or portraying small poeple with big dreams.

With this motivation especially films financed by DEFA Foundation's funds shall be brought to the cinemas.
